Important Information For Charter Oak Visa Credit Card Members

In our continuing efforts to reduce fraud and further improve the safety and security of your Charter Oak Visa Credit Card, we will be modifying certain card availability effective January 29, 2021.

We have been experiencing increased fraud within our Visa portfolio as fraudsters have become very clever in deceiving some of our members. Currently, your Visa available credit is immediately returned to you when we receive your payment. Beginning on January 29, 2021, we will be placing a 10-day holding period on credit card availability for certain larger payments above our fraud-detection thresholds until the payment is received and collected by Charter Oak.

This large-payment threshold may change on occasion based on our fraud analytics that we use to detect and deter fraud within our Visa credit card portfolio. Any payments below $2,000 will not be affected, as that would be the minimum fraud threshold. If you need sooner-than-10-day credit card availability upon your large payment to Charter Oak, a member of our Visa Department will be available to discuss this with you by calling 860.446.3301.

We value your membership with Charter Oak and we do realize this new holding period effective January 29, 2021 may be an inconvenience at times to some of our Visa credit card holders. We are taking these appropriate measures to ensure the continued safety and security of our Visa credit card members.

Please remember to provide us with your most up-to-date contact information, including your cell and home phone numbers.  If potential fraud is detected on your Visa® credit card, a Fraud Representative will call you via the phone numbers we have on file.  So to ensure we provide a seamless and easy way to keep your Visa® card safe or keep it from being blocked, please make sure we have your correct phone numbers.

This free service can help you keep track of your spending and safeguard your account from fraudulent transactions. Using eZCardInfo gives you instant 24/7 access to your Visa account.

For enhanced security and convenience, we strongly encourage all of our Visa cardholders to access their eZCardInfo information and transactions – from checking available credit to making a payment – through their credit card account in Online Banking at CharterOak.org. Accessing your eZCardInfo information through Online Banking is easy, convenient, and always accessible from your desktop, smartphone, or our easy-to-use app.

Simply log in to Online Banking and click or tap on your credit card account for instant access to eZCardInfo, including your ScoreCard Rewards information and updates. If you’re not yet an Online Banking user, visit our CharterOak.org home page and click or tap on “Register” in our Online Banking login to complete the process or download our convenient Online Banking app in The App Store or Google Play. A Visa Debit card works like a check. Just use your Visa Debit card when you are ready to pay. Debit card transactions are automatically deducted from your checking account and typically posted within 24 hours of your purchase.
